Portrait of Lori Duff

About Me!

I am an illustrator and storyteller living in Vermont. With a background as a journalist, I love rich tales, funny characters, bold colors and drawings rooted in fantastical life.

If I had any athletic aptitude I would have been a circus performer but instead I tried my hand as an actress, Peace Corps volunteer and photographer. I studied English and Telecommunications at Indiana University, earned my Masters in Journalism at the University of Missouri and went back to school, again, to study Graphic Design.

Growing up in the heart of the Midwest gave me an appreciation for small town America, friendly conversation and casseroles. When not working, you can find me in the garden, at my letterpress studio or chasing down the kids.

My work as a journalist has been honored by Pictures of the Year International, NPPA Best of Photojournalism, Society for News Design and the New England Press Association. I’ve also been supported by a grant from the Alexia Foundation for World Peace. My photographs have appeared in publications such as the New York Times, Popular Photography, the Washington Post, AP Images and Women’s World. Here’s a quick peek of my photography.

I’m currently looking for opportunities in publishing and editorial illustration. Curious about anything? I would love to hear from you!
